Not a big fan of fruit beers, but for the company of Ureich, I picked up a Lithuanian Fortas Cherry from the well known Volfas Engelman brewery.
Cherry beer is gaining more and more ground in the market. A few years ago it was still exotic, but now only a lazy person is not brewing it. Nevertheless, I’m surprised to hear in the regions — we don’t sell cherry beer, I mean, it’s not in demand. I wonder why! Quite tasty stuff, although it differs from each other mostly only in flavor intensity (I’m not talking about lambics with cherries and the like).
Fortas Cherry (Lithuania, Kanas) — 4/14 flavor of course, cherry. But, cherry is not aggressive, but soft. Rather, not even a cherry, but cherry. The taste is sweet, but not sugary. By the middle of the glass added some flavor, like a sugar substitute. Maybe it had cherry concentrate on it, or maybe it just seemed that way.
Otherwise, the beer wasn’t bad. Through the cherry-cherry, you can even guess the malt base. Quite drinkable. Rated C+.
