Continuing on about beer, which even before it was difficult to buy in Russia, and now you can forget about it altogether. A special series from Švyturys – Compass. In this case, Compass VI. I first tasted this line of beers at the previous Prodexpo at the Švyturys stand. It was one of the brewers. I tasted it at the end of the day, so I don’t remember much about it, except that it was powerful and interesting.
At Prodexpo 2022 Compass VI was given to me to taste at home, which it was. The atmosphere can not call it quiet now, but still better than the hectic pace of the exhibition.
Compass VI (Lithuania, Klaipeda) – 10% alk. In this case, the brewer’s “compass” points to Martinique, as the description on the official website says. Imperial stout matured for thirty months in rum barrels.
It turned out interesting. The aroma is barrel aged, burnt, coffee and slight wine tones. The taste is dry and even tart. Very much the barrel theme is felt. In the aftertaste berries, coffee and all the same barrel. I would not say that the balance is perfect. Very wood sticks out, but the beer is definitely worthy of attention. Rated B+.
